Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa has admitted that he needs to increase his body strength if he is to become a success in the Premier League, the Daily Mail reports.

Shinji Kagawa

The Japanese international has impressed since his summer transfer from German champions Borussia Dortmund and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is happy with Kagawa’s form so far. However, Ferguson has made it clear that Kagawa is working hard to improve, with the Scotsman instructing the player to face the goal more often and be direct, and the 23-year-old has echoed his manager’s sentiments.

Kagawa said:I’ve realised that I need to limber up and strengthen my body trunk. I have to face the goal or I won’t be a threat. Shape your body so you are facing the stands.

In Germany, Kagawa had immediate success with two Bundesliga titles under Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp and the 23-year- old wants to win trophies in England. Kagawa has hinted at the increase in stature a move to United indicates and believes that the way United won the game against Galatasaray in the recent Champions League outing ‘is the characteristic of a big club’.
