Former Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola would be the ideal candidate to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, ex-Barca defender Rafael Marquez, currently with the New York Red Bulls, has said, according to the Daily Mail.

Marquez revealed he has recently spoken to Guardiola as the coach, currently on sabbatical, spends time living outside the glare of football in New York. And while the Mail claims Guardiola is top of the wanted list to become the next Chelsea manager as well as replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, Marquez believes Guardiola will instead pitch up at the Emirates Stadium when Wenger calls it a day.

Guardiola] will soon return to the game. I think he'll go to England. He'd be perfect for Arsenal,” Marquez is quoted as saying. Guardiola brought an end to his Barcelona tenure this summer, having coached the Spanish side since 2008, winning three La Liga titles, the Copa Del Rey twice, the Champions League twice and the World Club Cup also on two occasions, as well as a host of personal awards in recognition of his success as a manager.
