Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has laid down a target for himself of reaching 100 England caps, the Daily Mirror has reported, with the Arsenal midfielder currently a little short of that mark on seven.

And while the 19-year-old is thinking about his international future as a long-term proposition, for the short-term Oxlade-Chamberlain has admitted he is still happy just to train with some of the established players in Roy Hodgson’s squad.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made his senior England bow during the build-up to Euro 2012, appearing as a second-half substitute against Norway, replacing Ashley Young. Oxlade-Chamberlain’s first start came days later, playing an hour against Belgium at Wembley, while he was also selected to line up in England’s first Euro 2012 game against France.

Everyone would like to get to 100, but that's a massive target. If I can get close to that I will be absolutely delighted,” Oxlade-Chamberlain said. He added: “I guess I could say 100 and I would be more than satisfied. I've got to do well on and off the pitch to get there though.

Just being able to train with the boys, people like [Steven] Gerrard that I've grown up watching, was massive for me.

Beginning his career at Southampton, Oxlade-Chamberlain moved to Arsenal in August 2011, having scored 10 goals in 43 games for the Saints. Oxlade-Chamberlain has thus far made 32 appearances for the Gunners, scoring five goals, and was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season.
