Atletico Madrid will consider offers of close to £50m for Colombian hotshot Radamel Falcao, the striker on the wanted list of both Premier League champions Manchester City and Champions League and FA Cup holders Chelsea, the Daily Mail has reported.

Radamel Falcao

Gil Marin, the Atletico general manager, admitted that if the club were to sell Falcao for £48m then the club could clear their debts, but insisted the player would not be sold in the January transfer window.

City manager Roberto Mancini was seen at Atleti’s last La Liga fixture before the international break, a game in which Falcao scored his eighth goal of the season, with the Madrid side defeating Malaga 2-1.

Atletico are currently second in La Liga, level on points with Barcelona but trailing Tito Vilanova’s side by two goals, despite having scored more than Barca at home so far this season.

Last season, Falcao netted 36 goals as Atletico won the Europa League, while earlier this season Falcao hit a hat-trick in the European Super Cup against Chelsea.
