Young returns to Man Utd training

Ashley Young is nearing a return from injury after resuming training with Manchester United, the Daily Mail has reported. The England international has missed more than a month with a knee injury.

Young’s last involvement for United came in the 3-2 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford in late August, with the former Watford and Aston Villa winger subsequently unavailable after complaining of pain in his knee.

But Young was able to take part in a skeleton training session this week, held by Sir Alex Ferguson to keep fit the few United players not currently away on international duty. Young could then be able to return to first team football in United’s next league fixture, at home to Stoke City on October 20.

England defender Chris Smalling is also targeting a return against Tony Pulis’ Potters, although the ex-Fulham player did not train with Young this week, the newspaper adds.
