Dzeko not interested in Man City departure

Edin Dzeko has rubbished suggestions he will leave Manchester City in the near future, insisting that every time Roberto Mancini is linked with a new striker, it only hardens his resolve to stay at fight for his place, rhe Daily Mail has reported.

The newspaper adds that Dzeko has been mooted for an exit again recently, but the player himself is adamant that he wants to remain at the Etihad Stadium and prove his worth to Mancini and the City fans.

He said: “Every time I see a paper, for what seems like a year or more there is a story saying that I am leaving City, or that I want to go. But I’ve never said that so the stories don’t come from me. I’ve always wanted to stay at City and fight for my place. My motto has always been ‘Never give up’.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international added that with the roster of strikers available to Mancini - including Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli - it was inevitable he would have to spend some time on the bench or out of favour.

Dzeko moved to City in January 2011, joining the current Premier League champions from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. In his time thus far at the club, Dzeko has more than 70 appearances, scoring almost 30 goals, winning the FA Cup as well as Premier League in the process.
