Brendan Rodgers quest to add more firepower to his Liverpool squad could take him to the Scottish Premier League for Celtic striker Gary Hooper.

The Reds already thread-bare forward line was plunged into further chaos with Fabio Borini now set for a prolonged period on the sidelines after suffering a broken foot and according to the Daily Mail, Rodgers could turn his attentions to Hooper with the striker currently in the middle of faltering contract talks at Celtic Park.

Hooper has impressed for the Bhoys this season, particularly in the Champions League where he produced a virtuoso performance to help the Scottish side to their maiden away win in the competition over Spartak Moscow.

Indeed, such have been Hooper’s performances since his move north from Scunthorpe that he has even been mooted for a place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad considering the lack of striking options available in the country at present.

The Reds currently remain without a league win at Anfield under Brendan Rodgers so far this season and after seven games played lie in a lowly 14th position.
