Tuesday 16 October 2012

Paris Saint-Germain have stolen a march on their rivals in the race for Ashley Cole’s signature. With the news surfacing that the Chelsea left-back has refused to extend his contract at the European champions, the Daily Mail reports that the money-bags French club will attempt to do a deal for the player in January, despite the attentions of both Manchester clubs and Real Madrid. Cole’s deal expires at the end of the season.

Ashley Cole

Were Cole to make the switch to the French capital he would not be short of familiar faces with PSG managed by former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti, while ex-Chelsea players and staff members Paul Clement, Claude Makelele and Nick Broad also on the payroll at the Parc des Princes.

Cole is currently away with the England squad and is locked in a battle with in-form Everton full-back Leighton Baines for the left-back role, with the former only two appearances short of 100 caps for his country.
