Mario Balotelli has insisted that perceived criticism from Manchester City executive Brian Marwood does not bother him in the slightest, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Mario Balotelli

Marwood, the former Arsenal midfielder who holds the post of football administrator at the Etihad Stadium, had reportedly said Balotelli was not a good role model for the club’s young footballers, due to the litany of on and off-field incidents of which the Italy international has been part.

While Marwood did not name Balotelli directly the Mirror claims it was clear that the former Inter striker was one of the players being referred to. Marwood said: “I think that it’s important to make a good example. I think - and we all know who we are talking about - that you will get people within the system who do not show the right values and the right behaviour.

Marwood went on to list a number of City players whom he believes are good role models for young professionals - captain Vincent Kompany, goalkeeper Joe Hart and Argentine utility player Pablo Zabaleta among them.

Balotelli however batted away the comments of Marwood, insisting that the only relationship he needs to be successful at City is with the manager, Roberto Mancini. Balotelli added: “ I am fine at City, even though there are people who like to talk in the newspapers, instead of saying certain things to my face. I do not give a damn.

With Mancini, all goes well. We have a good relationship, even though someone always tries to put discord among us. We love each other.
