Man City dismiss rumours of bids for Barcelona pair Fabregas and Busquets

Thursday 18 October 2012

Manchester City have sternly denied reports linking them to Barcelona and Spanish midfield duo Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Busquets. Reports in the media had linked the Premier League champions with the two World Cup winners with Roberto Mancini known to be unhappy at the transfer business conducted by the club in the summer.

However, the Daily Mirror reports that on Wednesday evening, City released a statement on their website refuting claims that bids for Fabregas and Busquets were imminent.

There’s no basis to these claims and the club has neither made nor is it planning to make an offer for these players,” read the statement.

Former Arsenal midfielder Fabregas has spoken this season of his unhappiness at only being a bit-part player at the Camp Nou, with Busquets one of the players often chosen ahead of him in the Catalan’s starting XI.

City will look for their third consecutive Premier League win with a trip to an in-form West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon ahead of league leaders Chelsea facing a potentially tricky away clash with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
