Liverpool lining up move for Birmingham winger Redmond

Friday 19 October 2012

Brendan Rodgers is ready to add to his roster of young talent by making a move to bring Birmingham City’s England U-19 international winger Nathan Redmond to Liverpool, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

Nathan Redmond

Redmond’s future at St. Andrew’s is in doubt after the 18-year-old failed to agree terms on a new deal with the Championship club. The Telegraph added that Redmond has been waiting for a new contract for over a year but negotiations have continually stalled, with the player now having just over 18 months remaining on his existing deal.

Liverpool are said to be one of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring Redmond’s future closely, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City also showing an interest. Liverpool however may point to the case of Raheem Sterling, the young winger who has broken into the first team under Rodgers this season, as a reason why Redmond would be best served taking his career to Anfield.
