Roberto Martinez returns to the place where he began his managerial career as his struggling Wigan side taken on a Swansea team that has not won since the second weekend of the Premier League season.

Liberty Stadium

After their superb start, Michael Laudrup’s team have hit a rough patch and the new boss will certainly not have been helped by the reports that emerged this week suggesting that the senior players were unhappy with Laudrup’s style of management.

A win would certainly silence the doubters and fortunately, Laudrup has no new injury worries for the clash on Saturday afternoon, although Neil Taylor remains a long-term absentee with a broken ankle. Kemy Agustien is available again however after recovering from a calf problem.

Wigan have been playing well of late without looking capable of getting the wins required if they are to avoid their yearly battle with relegation. However, the Latics’ only win of the season has come on the road at Southampton and so will be confident of picking up a victory in South Wales.

Wigan will remain without defender Antolin Alcaraz who has a groin problem, while Albert Crusat might also miss out due to a knee problem.

Additionally, following their international excursions in the week, Honduran Maynor Figueroa and Chilean Jean Beausejour will undergo fitness tests before taking their expected places in the Wigan starting XI.
