Porto winger James Rodriguez has been identified as the next Manchester United signing and will replace Nani, who is set to leave the club next summer, Metro reports.

Rodriguez has been electrifying for Porto and has impressed United scouts, who have been keeping an eye on him for the last 12 months. The 21 year old Colombian international has a £24m buyout clause and the Premier League side will face competition from German giants Bayern Munich. With an abundance of wingers at Old Trafford, such as Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young, the Rodriguez signing will see Nani leave Manchester after a summer of speculation.

Talks over Nani’s contract have stalled and the 25 year old was reportedly making a move to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala before negotiations over his wages stalled. Nani’s form has dipped so far this term and Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus are set to battle it out for the Portuguese international’s signature. United are looking for around £15m for the 25 year old and will use that money to add to an attractive package for Rodriguez.

Rodriguez has spoken about the speculation linking him with a move to Manchester and the 21 year old has admitted that the prospect of the Premier League is exciting. However, Rodriguez is thinking about Porto and focusing on building his reputation to become one of the best in the world.
