Cech expects goals when Chelsea meet Man Utd

Petr Cech expects an entertaining match between Premier League leaders Chelsea and visitors to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Manchester United, warning that if the Blues do not tighten up their defence then there could be plenty of goals, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Both sides are coming off a round of Champions League fixtures that saw them concede twice, with United able to fight back and score there times to win 3-2 against Braga at Old Trafford, but Chelsea unable to overcome Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, going down to a 2-1 defeat.

Chelsea currently hold a four-point lead at the top of the table and could extend it to a commanding seven if they beat United and other results go their way, but if United inflict Chelsea’s first domestic defeat of the season the gap will be just a single point.

Cech believes that the way in which both teams approach the game - and the problems in defence experienced by both sides recently - means that goals should flow freely between the sides.

He said: “We cannot be slow out of the blocks again, it is not the way to start and we need better concentration from the first minute - you shouldn't concede from a throw-in. But United have been conceding and leaking goals as well, so it will be very exciting if both team play like this. It could be entertaining.
