Mourinho urges Madrid move for Tottenham winger Bale

Jose Mourinho has called for the Real Madrid hierarchy to sanction a move for Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Mourinho is said to be keen to bring the Wales international to La Liga in an effort to breathe new life into his squad, after disappointing results domestically as Madrid struggle in the defence of the title they regained from Barcelona last season.

Madrid are currently fourth in the table, after eight games, eight points adrift of Barca, who top the pile on goal difference from Atletico Madrid.

Any move for Bale would be put on hold until the summer, however, as a combination of Bale’s recently-signed long-term Tottenham contract and the need for Madrid to move on some players who have not found favour under Mourinho takes hold.

A price of £50m is mooted but first Madrid would need to sell the likes of Kaka and possibly Mesut Ozil, amongst others.
