Andre Villas-Boas could be without Moussa Dembele for up to six weeks if the hip injury currently plaguing the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder requires surgery, the Daily Mail has reported.

Dembele has already missed Spurs’ last four games after suffering a reoccurrence of the injury while on international duty with Belgium. The 25-year-old previously struggled with the problem at former club Fulham last season and underwent a scan on Thursday to determine the extent of the complaint.

Having left Fulham late in the summer transfer window after spending two years at Craven Cottage, Dembele has already missed Tottenham’s home game with local rivals Chelsea, which Spurs lost 4-2, and stands to miss the entirety of a busy November period.

This month alone sees Tottenham travel to Premier League champions Manchester City, near neighbours Arsenal, host Liverpool and West Ham United and the vital Europa League away trip to Lazio, as well as Saturday’s game against Wigan Athletic.
