Reading v Norwich - Match preview and team news

Friday 09 November 2012

Reading welcome a Norwich side high in confidence as their search for a first Premier League win of the season continues.

Madejski Stadium

The Royals have played reasonably well of late and have collected points from four of their last five Premier League outings, with their only defeat coming in a slender 1-0 reverse against Liverpool at Anfield. However, Brian McDermott’s side remain in the relegation zone four points away from safety and he will be aware as much as anyone that he needs wins and fast.

Alex McCarthy has a shoulder injury and so former first-choice Adam Federici is in line to make his return to the Premier League starting line-up. Midfielders Jem Karacan and Danny Guthrie are also missing with knee and thigh problems respectively. Elsewhere, in-form striker Noel Hunt is fit to return and he should partner Pavel Pogrebnyak, who turned 29 for this week.

Norwich are unbeaten in four in all competitions and have collected impressive wins against Arsenal and Stoke to lift themselves out of the relegation mire and into 14th position with 10 points from 10 played.

Chris Hughton could be without key defender Russell Martin, who has a back problem but fellow defenders Michael Turner and Javier Garrido are both expected to be fit after shaking off knocks picked up in their last outing against Stoke.
