Liverpool eye up Anzhi striker Traore
Liverpool are reportedly set to embark on a pursuit of Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore as they look to add to their currently threadbare set of forwards.
According to the Daily Mirror, 6ft 8in Traore, who scored a well-taken winner between the two sides in their last Europa League clash in Moscow, would provide an alternative option for Brendan Rodger’s strike force, which is currently heavily reliant on Luis Suarez.
However, with Traore’s contract at big-spending Anzhi running until 2016, the striker’s agent warned it would not be easy to persuade Guus Hiddink to sell one of his prized assets.
“At the moment, Lacina is content with his position at Anzhi,” said Traore’s representative Dimitri Seluk.
“He recently signed a new contract until 2016. Traore has no need to hurry. We’ll go ahead and first let him get experience
Following their 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool currently lie 13th in the Premier League table with 12 points from 11 games, a full eight points off the fourth Champions League spot which is currently held by Merseyside rivals Everton.
