England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce has revealed that he is yet to sign an extension to his contract.

The former Manchester City coach has been in charge of the Three Lions youth outfit since 2007 but his deal is currently set to expire following the end of the European Championships in Israel in June.

However, according to Sky Sports, Pearce has revealed that he has yet to decide on his future.

I enjoy the job that I do,” said Pearce. “I have been reasonably successful, but not as successful as I would have liked to have been. Who knows what is in the future, though?

I am contracted until next summer, and that has been the case every time I have gone into a major tournament. We will see.

The 50-year-old added that he had missed the day-to-day player contact that comes at club level and that that could be a factor in his eventual decision.

Yes, I would like more contact with players on a daily basis and more games to test myself,” he continued. “The other side of that is the environment I am working in.

It gives me great pride and honour to work for the FA, and working with the best players in the country is a fantastic option. There are pluses and minuses in both options. I am enjoying what I am doing and we will see where that takes us over the next few months.

During Pearce’s time in charge, the England Under-21s have made history by reaching four consecutive European Championships, reaching the semi-final in 2007 and the final in 2009 before going out in the group stage in 2011.
