Falcao impressed by Chelsea ambition
Atletico Madrid star Radamel Falcao has added significant grist to the transfer rumour mill by talking admiringly about Chelsea, according to Sky Sports. He has been at the centre of much transfer gossip this season and spoke highly of the Premier League club.
“Chelsea are champions of Europe and there is not much more to say than that. Even after winning the Champions League they still go and sign players of the highest quality. Their ambition is clear.
“I was also a big fan of (former Chelsea forward) Gianfranco Zola when I was growing up.”
With 10 goals in 10 La Liga games so far this season the 26-year-old Colombian international has been the subject of extensive transfer rumours linking him with a move. Manchester City and Real Madrid are also on the list of potential suitors hoping to tempt the striker away from the Vicente Calderon stadium.
Seemingly unperturbed by the aggressive nature of the English game, Falcao added: “I would not be worried about the physical aspect of the Premier League, I have scored goals in Argentina, Portugal and now Spain. I am confident I can adapt my game to any league. I would welcome the challenge of the Premier League.
“I have watched the Premier League for a long time. There is so much quality and it is such an exciting league. Of course it is nice to think I might play in it.”
Falcao, who moved from Porto to Atletico for €40m in 2011, has scored 34 league goals in 44 appearances for his current club. Atletico Madrid currently sit second in La Liga and have scored seventeen goals at home in the league, where they have a 100% record.
