Lambert not worried about another spat with Man City counterpart Mancini

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has shrugged off concerns that he could be engaged in another touchline row with his Manchester City counterpart Roberto Mancini when the sides meet in the Premier League on Saturday, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Paul Lambert and Roberto Mancini argue

The pair clashed when Villa knocked City out of the League Cup in September following a challenge by Villa youngster Joe Bennett on Gareth Barry, a former Villa player. Lambert however said that he respects Mancini despite comments made by the Italian after the game in which he said he was “tired” of some managers.

Lambert excused Mancini’s words as uttered in the heat of the moment after a feisty game between the sides. Villa were victorious at the Etihad Arena after extra-time thanks to a Barry own goal and further efforts from Gabriel Agbonlahor, who netted a brace, and Charles N’Zogbia. City could only reply through Mario Balotelli and Aleksandar Kolarov.

It happens. I’m there to defend my team. I’m sure Roberto does the same with his team,” Lambert said of his row with Mancini. He added: “It’s no problem. I’ll shake hands before and after like I always do. I’m pretty sure he’ll shake hands.
