Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has claimed that his side are the favourites for their Champions League clash with Chelsea on Tuesday night, Calciomercato reports.

The Blues go into their fixture with the Italian champions knowing that a victory in Turin will surely see them through to the next phase. However, Juventus have a formidable home record and are in great Champions League form following their 4-0 win over Nordsjelland last time out.

Bonucci believes that Juventus are the favourites for the tie and they are trying to play down the pressure, so they can secure victory.

Following their disappointing 0-0 draw with Lazio on Saturday, Bonucci said: “Now it’s Chelsea and what I would say to myself and the team is not to go into the game creating putting pressure on ourselves. Juventus are champions of Italy and we will play in our fantastic stadium. The favourites, it seems to me, are Juve.”

The Bianconeri are a point behind Chelsea in the standings, but victory will put them onto nine points and leave Chelsea in third place relying on other results.

Roberto di Matteo’s side lost to West Brom at the weekend and will be looking to leave their domestic form behind in Turin. No holders of the Champions League have ever gone out at the group stages the following season, so Chelsea will be keen to avoid that particular statistic.
