Juventus vs Chelsea - Champions League preview and team news

The deciding fixture in Group E sees Juventus host Chelsea in a tie that will determine the final standings and ultimately Champions League qualification. Roberto di Matteo’s side are joint-top of Group E, but just a point ahead of Juventus who will look to grab a victory in their home stadium.

Chelsea’s domestic form has dipped since their 3-2 home defeat to Manchester United that caused so many headlines and were lucky to secure victory over Shakhtar in their last Champions League tie. An injury-time Victor Moses header grabbed all three points and moved them into a position where they can probably afford a draw in the Juventus Stadium.

With Nordsjallend to play in their final game, Chelsea will feel confident that they can draw in Turin and progress with a win over the Danish side.

Di Matteo has hinted that he could drop Fernando Torres in place of Daniel Sturridge, but it would be a huge call from the Italian to replace his £50m man. Chelsea will be without John Terry and Frank Lampard is a major doubt. Ashley Cole could return after making the substitutes bench in the defeat to West Brom on Saturday.

Juventus laboured to a 0-0 draw with Lazio on Saturday and will be looking to get back to form against the Blues. Mirko Vucinic has been absent since Juventus were beaten by Inter Milan, snapping their unbeaten streak at 49 games. Left-back Paolo de Ceglie is still regaining fitness after a thigh problem.

Andrea Pirlo will return following suspension against Lazio, which means Paul Pogba drops to the bench after a recent good run of games. Antonio Conte’s men can jump above Chelsea with victory and will be looking to progress to the knockout stages and resurrect their form.
