Lazio vs Tottenham - Europa League preview and team news

Thursday 22 November 2012

Tottenham go into their penultimate Europa League Group J match realistically needing a draw to qualify for the final stages.

Olimpico, Rome

Spurs currently sit two points behind Lazio, and two points above 3rd place Maribor, but a draw would mean that only a defeat at home to Panathinaikos, and a Maribor victory over Lazio in the final game could knock Tottenham out.

Andre Villas-Boas' side come into this clash on the back of four defeats from their last five outings, most recently in the 5-2 defeat to North-London rivals Arsenal on Saturday.

Lazio meanwhile are currently placed 5th in Serie A, fresh from a 3-2 win over city rivals Roma, and a 0-0 draw away to champions Juventus. the Biancoceleste have lost just two games in the last 11 in all competitions.

Tottenham have brought along Moussa Dembele following his return to fitness, but the Belgian is unlikely to make an appearance - Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore are likely to start together in central midfield.

Emmanuel Adebayor is fit and could start alongside Jermain Defoe if Villas-Boas decides to stick with two strikers, meanwhile Hugo Lloris will keep his place in goal.

Lazio are without Andres Dias and Abdoulay Konko in defence, and Miroslav Klose is also unavailable.
