Newly installed Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has played down rumours of Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard joining the club in January, according toSky Sports.

Frank Lampard

The England international's contract is up for re-newel in the summer, which has led to speculation surrounding the future of the former West Ham player. It is not known what Lampard's preferred choice is at this moment regarding his next move, with Rafael Benitez believing that both Lampard and Ashley Cole will be moving on in the summer.

Although Lampard has yet to played under new manager Benitez since Roberto Di Matteo's departure, Redknapp was, jokingly, quick to defuse the rumour of his nephew heading to Loftus Road.

Redknapp said: “Frank's always wanted to play for QPR. He's not interested about playing in the Champions League or winning it again this year.

The former Tottenham boss also refused to rule out a move for Marseille and France international forward Loic Remy. The R’s manager has had his eye on the Frenchman since his time in charge of Spurs, but said that any deal for Remy would be expensive.

He continued: “I was interested in Remy at Tottenham but that was then. It's a different situation now. He would be expensive.
