Arsenal will be eyeing three points in front of their home fans after only achieving one league in five outings and even then only coming after Emmanuel Adebayor’s sending off in the North London derby with Tottenham.

Emirates Stadium

The Gunners currently lie five points off West Brom and the fourth Champions League place and so Arsene Wenger will know as much as anyone how crucial three points is for his side on Saturday against a Swansea side that should theoretically play to the home side’s strengths in their willingness to come forward and take the game on.

The Gunners may restore Lukas Podolski to the starting line-up after the experienced Germany international missed the midweek draw at Everton with an illness, while Bacary Sagna could make way for Carl Jenkinson at right-back. Elsewhere, Kieran Gibbs looks come in at left-back, with captain Thomas Vermaelen moving across into central-defence after Laurent Koscielny picked up a thigh injury that could sideline him for up to three weeks. Elsewhere, Tomas Rosicky is in line to make his return after being named on the substitutes bench in midweek but Andre Santos, Abou Diaby and Lukas Fabianski remain absent.

Visitors Swansea have been on a superb run of form that has seen them only defeated once (at Manchester City) in their last eight Premier League outings. Indeed, seven points from their last nine available, which came impressively at home to West Brom and away at Newcastle has Michael Laudrup’s men rise from just above the relegation places to eighth in the Premier League table, just a point behind their opponents Arsenal.

The Swans could be unchanged from the side that so impressively took the previously in-form West Brom apart in midweek. Danny Graham could recover from an illness to take his place on the substitutes bench while Michel Vorm, Kyle Bartley and Neil Taylor remain long term absentees.
