Bale could miss Everton clash says Villas-Boas

Sunday 02 December 2012

Tottenham Hotspur could be without their Welsh winger Gareth Bale for at least a week according to their manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Gareth Bale

Bale injured his hamstring after attempting a shot during Tottenham’s 3-0 victory against Fulham in the Premier League yesterday. Bale was removed in the 62nd minute and replaced by Icelandic midfielder, Gylfi Sigurdsson.

It is thought Gareth Bale may be missing for Spurs’ trip to Goodison Park as they take on Everton next Sunday, but it is hoped he may be back shortly after. Tottenham also saw defender Michael Dawson removed due to injury.

On the injuries Villas-Boas told Reuters , "One (Bale) looks more serious than the other but nothing too major, both players will come in for treatment very soon.

"When there is a muscle (injury) you have to take into account one or two weeks. We will try to restrict that as much as we can."

Bale’s injury will be of serious concern to Villas-Boas given the winger’s current form. He has scored three goals in the last four Premier League games and has helped Tottenham move up to fourth in the league, ten points behind league leaders Manchester United and five points ahead of their north London rivals Arsenal.

If Villas-Boas’ fears are confirmed Bale will miss the visit of Greek side Panathinaikos to White Hart Lane on Thursday, the trip to Goodison next Sunday, but could return for the home game against Swansea on Sunday the 16th.
