Benitez rules out Lukaku Chelsea recall

Rafa Benitez has ruled out recalling Romelu Lukaku, currently on loan at West Brom, to his struggling Chelsea side, reports the Daily Mail.

Chelsea are currently on a winless streak of seven in the Premier League, and have found themselves now 10 points adrift of league leaders Manchester United. And despite their £50m striker Fernando Torres misfiring and Daniel Sturridge also struggling for form and fitness, the recall of Lukaku, who is joint top scorer for West Brom with five goals, is not an option according to Rafa Benitez.

"We know Romelu has been doing very well for West Brom. But maybe it's best for him to stay there where he is playing games for now, as it will be better for his future development."

Lukaku is on loan at the Hawthorns until the end of the season, a move approved by former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo in an attempt to give the 18-year-old Belgian more game time. He joined the Blues in the Summer of 2011 in a £18m move from Belgium side Anderlecht, where at the age of just 16, he finished as the league's top scorer.

Having been coveted by many of Europe's top clubs, he joined Chelsea, although with their strike force already boasting the likes of Torres, Sturridge, Juan Mata, Oscar and Edin Hazard, it was feared the young talent might be wasted on the bench at Chelsea.

Chelsea started in tremendous form early this season, but have lost their way of late, culminating in an emphatic loss to West Ham at the weekend. Benitez is still without a win since taking over as interim manager from Di Matteo.
