Parker nears Tottenham return as Redknapp is linked with QPR swoop

Andre Villas-Boas will soon be able to welcome back Scott Parker to his Tottenham Hotspur team, but the Daily Mirror reports the England international may soon follow former manager Harry Redknapp to Queens Park Rangers.

Scott Parker

Parker has not featured for the Spurs first team this season after injuring his Achilles tendon in August, but was able to play 90 minutes in a reserve team friendly against Ipswich Town this week. The match, held at the Spurs’ training ground, saw the Championship team’s second string run out 5-1 winners.

Villas-Boas however could sanction the sale of the 32-year-old, with Redknapp said to have expressed interest in taking the former Chelsea midfielder to Loftus Road. Redknapp was appointed as Mark Hughes’ replacement in November with a mandate to stave off relegation, but has yet to win a match with the side marooned at the bottom of the league.

It was Redknapp who signed Parker for Tottenham after West Ham United were relegated in 2011, the manager paying over £5m for the midfielder, who has more than two years remaining on his current contract.
