Wednesday 05 December 2012

Manchester United left-back Alexander Buttner has lifted the lid on how he feels to play for the Red Devils, and showered praise on his United teammates.

Alexander Buttner

The Dutch defender joined in the Summer from Eredivisie side Vitesse for £3.9m, as a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra, and has played a limited role so far for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

Talking to United Review magazine, Buttner said: "I feel so lucky to be here and it’s great to play with so many great players like Giggs and Scholes – before I came I used to play with them on FIFA [the computer game], now I get to train with them every day!"

"We have so many great players in the squad and the fighting spirit is fantastic. Everybody works so hard.

"Look at someone like Wazza – he plays no.10 but he is everywhere on the pitch. He’s a great player for the team. The thing that makes United so special is the fact we have so many top players, not just in the first eleven but the on the bench as well.

Buttner has made just one league appearance for United, at home to Wigan, where he also netted his first goal for the club.

The Dutch youngster will hope to feature at home to Cluj tonight, in the Champions League Group H clash - the league leaders have already won the group with a game to spare. They will however be keen to get back to winning ways following a defeat last time out in the competition, when they lost 1-0 away to Galatasaray.
