Chelsea vs Nordsjaelland - Champions League preview and team news

By A Different League staff

Wednesday 05 December 2012

Chelsea need to end a winless streak, and hope results go their way if they are to progress to the final stages of the Champions League tonight.

Stamford Bridge

With the Blues currently sitting in third position, two points behind Juventus, they must beat Norwegian side Nordsjaelland, and hope that Group E leaders Shakhtar defeat Juve, if Rafa Benitez's side are to progress.

But in doing so, they will need to end a run of six games without a victory - their last coming at home to Shakhtar. Two 0-0 draws and a 3-1 weekend defeat to West Ham is not the ideal start for Benitez, who is already under-fire by fans at Stamford Bridge.

Nordsjaelland are second in the Superliga, but have become the Group E whipping boys, picking up just one point from five matches - at home to Juventus.

Chelsea do face some injury problems - Daniel Sturridge, John Terry and Frank Lampard are all still out, but David Luiz returns to the first team after missing the weekend's tie with a suspension. Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres are all set to start.
