Tottenham vs Panathinaikos - Europa League preview and team news

By A Different League staff

Thursday 06 December 2012

Tottenham look to continue their good form, and in doing so cement a place in the final stages of the Europa League when they welcome Panathinaikos to White Hart Lane tonight.

White Hart Lane

Spurs currently sit two points behind Group J leaders Lazio, and two points clear of tonight's opponents. Therefore, a fifth draw from their six Europa League clashes would be sufficient to ensure their progression. A win for Spurs could see them top the group, but only if Maribor surprise the Italians with victory in Slovenia. Panathinaikos meanwhile would qualify if they were victorious tonight.

Both sides come into the game in good form - Tottenham made it three wins in three last week, scoring eight goals and conceding just two. The Greek side have won four of their last five, which has seen them move up to sixth in the Super League.

Tottenham will be without Gareth Bale and Michael Dawson who were both injured against Fulham at the weekend. They join a recovering Scott Parker, Younes Kaboul, and Benoit Assou-Ekotto on the injury list. Brad Friedel will take over in goal, giving Hugo Lloris a rest, while Emmanuel Adebayor is likely to start, fresh after missing recent Premier League clashes through suspension.
