Swansea v Norwich - Match preview and team news

Swansea will be looking for a victory that could see them enter the Champions League places after an impressive run of form that has seen them suffer only one defeat, and a narrow one at that against champions Manchester City, in nine matches to place them in seventh place, just three points off third and fourth-placed Chelsea and Tottenham.

However, Michael Laudrup’s men will be sure to experience a tough test against a similarly in-form Norwich outfit that are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League matches under Chris Hughton, a run that has included victories over Arsenal, Manchester United and Sunderland to take them from second-bottom to the heady heights of 12th position.

The Swans may recall Wayne Routledge after the winger’s recovery from an ankle problem, pushing Spanish hot-shot Michu, who’s two goals against Arsenal last week saw him become joint top-scorer in the Premier League with 10, into a forward position, with Itay Shechter dropping out.

However, goalkeeper Michel Vorm (groin), wideman Pablo Hernandez (thigh) and left-back Neil Taylor (ankle) remain on the sidelines.

For the visitors, first-choice goalkeeper John Ruddy has been ruled out for three months after undergoing surgery for his thigh problem, leaving Mark Bunn as the alternative ahead of Declan Rudd, while Michael Turner and Harry Kane also miss out.

Crucially however, central-defender Sebastien Bassong has recovered from the injury that hampered him in the closing stages of the victory against Sunderland to take his place at the heart of the Canaries’ backline.
