Uruguay midfielder Carlos Andres Sanchez has admitted he is happy with rumours linking him with a move to Tottenham.

Christian Atsu

Sanchez, 28, currently plays for Argentine side River Plate, where he was part of the side that won promotion from the Primera B Nacional last season.

On hearing reports of Tottenham's apparent interest in the winger, Sanchez revealed:

"I am very happy that a team like that is interested in me, we'll see in the future what happens.

"I once said that I had the dream of playing at Manchester United, but I am happy about the interest of Tottenham."

Sanchez currently plays on the right wing, and could provide competition for places with current Spurs winger Aaron Lennon.

Another winger Spurs are reported to be interested in acquiring is Porto's Christian Atsu. The 20-year-old would be available on a free transfer in summer 2014, so a reduced fee could be possible for the Ghanaian. Atsu broke into the Porto first team this season, making 10 league appearances so far, and has received rave reviews in his homeland, where he has been labelled the 'Ghanaian Messi'.
