Balotelli gets Toure backing

Wednesday 12 December 2012

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has tipped fiery striker Mario Balotelli to become one of the top attackers in English football, The Sun reports.

Mario Balotelli

The 22-year-old has been widely criticised for his recent performances and with only one league goal so far this season, the pressure is on the Italian to start to improve his form. Balotelli has been backed by manager Roberto Mancini, but City fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with the striker. The Italian international was substituted early in the second half against Manchester United in last weekend’s 3-2 derby loss and that has cast further doubts over his future.

Mancini has insisted Balotelli is not for sale, with interest clear from Italian giants AC Milan, and Toure has insisted that the striker's future lies at the Etihad Stadium. Toure has admitted that Balotelli is often angry with himself, but the club are helping him and he is improving every day.

“All players need to improve and I talk all the time with Mario." said Toure. "This year especially, he has been working hard in training and improving well. But sometimes in the game, you can get disappointed when you lose small things. He has fantastic character and I know he will be one of the top strikers in the Premier League”.
