Tottenham will face off against Lyon in the Europa League round of 32. The tie will see current Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris meet his former side, from whom he joined the White Hart Lane club in the summer, the BBC has reported.

Lyon, currently second on goal difference behind Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1, finished fouth last season, which saw them automatically qualify for the group stages. Drawn in Group I, they progressed comfortably, winning five and drawing once to finish top of their group ahead of Sparta Prague, Athletic Bilbao and Hapoel Kiryat Shmona.

Spurs finished fourth last season, which would normally have been enough to secure a Champions League spot. However, with Chelsea winning the competition, it forced Spurs into the Europa League.

In Group J, they finished second behind winners Lazio, avoiding defeat in all of their six group games, although only winning twice. Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale have been their main attacking force, scoring nine and six goals respectively in all competitions, whilst Lloris, who recently cemented himself as Spurs’ No. 1, has kept three clean sheets in seven starts.

The first leg will be played at Tottenham on February 14, with Lyon hosting the return a week later. The winners of the tie will play either Cluj or Inter.
