Demba Ba has completed his £7m move to Chelsea, the club have confirmed.

Demba Ba

Ba, 27, told the club's official website of his delight at completing the move to Stamford Bridge:

'It feels good to be here, I'm very happy and very proud. It was important for me, and for Newcastle, to get my future sorted and now we can move on. Now they have the whole month to buy someone and for me as well, the sooner the better. Now I am here I just need to get settled in.

'When the club who won the Champions League wants you, the decision is very easy. This club is massive and that's something that helped the decision a lot. It was not a hard one.'

The Senegal international joined Newcastle from West Ham for the beginning of last season, and has netted 29 league goals in 54 appearances for the Magpies during that time.

There had been reports over an extended medical with the London club, after the player failed a medical with Stoke City prior to joining Newcastle, where no such examination was required. The player has however not missed a training session due to a knee issue in his time at Newcastle.

Ba joins a Chelsea strike-force led currently by Spanish striker Fernando Torres - The Blues have socred 39 league goals this season, less than Man Utd (54), Man City (41), Arsenal (40), and level with Tottenham.

Ba has reportedly signed a three-and-a-half year deal with Chelsea, and will wear the number 29 shirt.
