Tottenham to enter Zaha talks

Tottenham has stepped up their chase for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, The Daily Mail has reported.

Wilfried Zaha

Spurs are currently doing battle with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea for Zaha's signature, with a fee around the £10 million mark expected. A source close to the North London club told the newspaper: "Spurs may think they've jumped the gun, but the deal is along way from being completed. This could turn out to be the hottest transfer battle of the season and it could boil down to a question of which club does Zaha want to join."

Zaha is currently contracted with Palace, who are 3rd in the Championship and on course for promotion into the Premier League. Zaha has been a key member of Palace's squad so far, scoring 5 goals and providing four assists in his 25 league appearances so far. His form attracted the attention of England manager Roy Hodgson, who gave the 20-year-old his first senior cap in 2012 against Sweden. Since then, it has been expected that a bid would come for Zaha, with Spurs regularly being mentioned.

However, with Palace close to promotion, manager Ian Holloway has already said that Zaha "won't be available, no matter what the price is, in January", meaning any club putting in a bid for him in January would have to wait till the end of the season to secure his services, meaning the stronger squads of United and Chelsea would likely be better positioned.
