Tevez warns Man City teammate Balotelli to avoid his mistakes

Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez has revealed he tries to keep Mario Balotelli on the right track, warning the Italy international not to make the mistakes he made in the past, Sky Sports has reported.

Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli

Tevez’s comments come shortly after Balotelli was pictured in an apparent training ground scuffle with manager Roberto Mancini, sparked by a Balotelli tackle on Scott Sinclair during a practice match. Tevez however does not feel the altercation was a big deal, claiming that the interest is heightened because it is Balotelli and Mancini.

There are these kind of things that have happened at all the clubs I've been, but here at City the spotlight is always on us, as it is always on Roberto and Mario,” Tevez said, adding: “So here it always comes out - but this kind of thing happens everywhere.

However, Tevez acknowledged that other incidents involving Balotelli have the potential to negatively affect his career with the Premier League champions, a situation Tevez knows only too well after last season falling out with the club when as a substitute he refused to warm up for a Champions League match against Bayern Munich. The result was a long suspension, with Tevez eventually returning to the side in time for the Premier League run-in.

Tevez said: “I try to help Mario. I talk to him personally, on and off the pitch. I've been in that moment like him. I'm always keen to help him and keep him going through these kind of moments, so he doesn't make the same mistakes that I did in the past.
