Manchester United have emerged as favourites to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfired Zaha, reports the Daily Mail.

Wilfired Zaha

Yesterday it was widely reported that Tottenham have make the first contact with the Palace board over a possible deal that would see the player stay in the Championship for the rest of the season, before joining up with Spurs in the summer.

However, it now appears that United are ready to step-up their approach for the young England international, with a price-tag of around £7m being seen as suitable by the Manchester club.

The 20-year-old wide midfield player, has played 108 games in the Championship with the Eagles, scoring 12 goals, and manager Ian Holloway has insisted the player would not be moving in the January window.

Man Utd winger Ryan Giggs is now 39 years old, and it is likely the player will retire in coming years. United also have Ashley Young, Luis Nani and Antonio Valencia available on the wings.
