Pirlo would welcome Chelsea midfielder Lampard at Juventus

Andrea Pirlo believes Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard still has a lot to offer at the highest level of football, with the Juventus star insisting the England international could find success in Serie A even as his club prepare to let him leave on a free transfer, the Daily Mail has reported.

Pirlo went so far as to say the 34-year-old Lampard could have four more years to his career if he was to play in Italy. Pirlo added: “From what I see, Lampard is still one of the best central midfield players in the world. If he wanted to try at playing in Italy, I would welcome him at Juventus for sure.

Lampard is a year older than Pirlo, who was allowed to leave Milan on a free transfer - similar to Lampard’s expected departure from Chelsea - only for Pirlo to sign with Juventus in 2011 and help the team to a first Serie A title since promotion from Serie B, ironically replacing Milan as champions.

Juventus are currently top of the table in Italy, five points clear of surprise challengers Lazio and 14 ahead of Pirlo’s former team, Milan, who are languishing in seventh place. Pirlo made more than 400 appearances for Milan, and has played almost 600 games in Italian football, winning Serie A three times.
