No offers made for Tottenham target Damiao

Thursday 10 January 2013

Long-standing Tottenham Hotspur target Leandro Damiao has revealed that no club has yet to make an official offer to sign him from Brazilian side Internacional, Sky Sports has reported.

Leandro Damiao

Damiao has been a Spurs target under previous manager Harry Redknapp and current incumbent Andre Villas-Boas, with the Portuguese said to be considering a move for a new striker in the transfer window, particularly as Emmanuel Adebayor has had a change of heart over representing Togo at the Africa Cup of Nations and will now be unavailable for a significant portion of the next month.

The Internacional president claimed earlier this week that an English club has made an offer for Damiao, but Giovanni Lugi declined to name the team in question while the player himself insists he is in the dark over who has made the reported bid. Damiao, 23, went so far as to contradict the president.

He said: “My agent told me that there is no offer, everyone around me knows that I want to stay. But I can't say that I'll stay forever, maybe there will be an offer in the long term and (my future) depends on the president too.

Damiao has spent his entire senior career with Internacional, making more than 100 appearances for the Porto Alegre club and 74 goals. Damiao has also broken into the Brazil national team, debuting in 2011 and going on to make regular appearances for the five-time World Cup winners, scoring two goals.
