QPR v Tottenham - Match preview and team news

Friday 11 January 2013

Queens Park Rangers can move off the bottom of the table and gain a back to back wins for the first time this season in the Premier League if they can see off in-form Tottenham at Loftus Road. Indeed, a victory over the league’s third-placed club would see the Rs move to within two points of safety with Reading, Wigan, Southampton and Aston Villa all playing after the London derby in West London has reached it’s climax.

Harry Redknapp is said to ring the changes from the XI he picked against West Brom in last week’s FA Cup third round draw. However, he is sweating on the fitness of Esteban Granero and Junior Hoilett, who both picked up hamstring injuries in the match.

Armand Traore is also doubtful with a knock but Jose Bosingwa looks set to remain on the sidelines after his very public falling out with the manager. Strikers Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson are long-term absentees.

As for Spurs, Andre Villas-Boas can call on striker Emmanuel Adebayor for the last time before he joins up with Togo for the Africa Cup of Nations. Elsewhere, the Portuguese must choose whether to continue with Scott Parker in midfielder after the England international made his first start of the season after an achilles injury in last week’s FA Cup win over Coventry.

William Gallas may join fellow French defender Younes Kaboul on the sidelines, leaving Michael Dawson to partner Jan Vertonghen at the back as Tottenham look to close in on the top two and cement their challenge for Champions League football.
