Everton v Swansea - Match preview and team news

Friday 11 January 2013

Goodison Park plays host to two teams high on confidence as Swansea arrive on Merseyside fresh from putting one foot firmly on their way to Wembley after dismantling Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the opening leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final. Meanwhile, Everton are on a superb run of form and have only suffered one defeat at home to Chelsea from their last nine Premier League encounters to leave them fifth, only two points off the fourth Champions League place.

 Goodison Park

David Moyes may be without Leighton Baines after the influential left-back suffered an ankle problem in the 5-1 FA Cup romp over Cheltenham on Monday night, while Darron Gibson and Tony Hibbert will also miss out. Elsewhere, Belgian striker Kevin Miralles is in line for a return after missing the last six matches with a hamstring injury.

Michael Laudrup may reshape his Swansea side after a taxing period of both league and cup fixtures but with the Swans only a handful of points off a European place, their fans will be desperate for more improvement.

Midfield fulcrum Leon Britton may be rested with Kemy Agustien coming in to replace him while Nathan Dyer is also pushing for a recall after sitting out of Wednesday’s impressive victory at Stamford Bridge. Danny Graham is also pushing for a starting spot after finding the net against Chelsea, moving the free-scoring Michu back into a deeper midfield role.
