Sunday 13 January 2013

Manchester United will look to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table as they welcome red-hot rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford. The Red Devils have only lost once at home in the league all season and have won eight of their last nine league games to currently sit a full seven points ahead of defending champions and local rivals Manchester City at the table’s summit.

Old Trafford

Sir Alex Ferguson welcomes back Nani and Anderson to his squad after both missed prolonged periods with a hamstring injury. Wayne Rooney remains absent with a knee injury but with the form of the recently crowned December player of the month Robin Van Persie, the Scot will be confident of victory over Brendan Rodgers’ men on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors may hand Daniel Sturridge a Premier League debut after scoring on his maiden appearance for the club last week in the FA Cup victory over Mansfield. Controversial striker Luis Suarez looks sure to return to the starting XI at the ground where he courted much controversy last season due to the Patrice Evra-race saga.

Elsewhere, young full-back Andre Wisdom, who this week extended his contract at Anfield, looks set to start due to the injuries that will sideline Jose Enrique and Martin Kelly, while striker Fabio Borini could make a return to the substitutes bench after recovering from a broken foot.
