It appears that Chelsea are set to miss out on one of their top transfer targets, as Radamel Falcao has hinted that he could be moving to big-spending Paris Saint-Germain soon, reports the Daily Mirror.

With Falcao’s reported £40m price tag, it was thought that Chelsea would be favourites for the 26-year-old’s signature, and the Blues have often been mooted as Falcao’s next club. The emergence of PSG’s name in the equation, however, appears to have thrown something of a spanner into the works.

Speaking to Telefoot, Falcao struggled to hide his admiration for France. He said: “France is a wonderful country. I have been there before and I liked it very much.

"PSG has a very ambitious project and has invested a lot of money to build an important team. They are going to need some time but they could reach their objective very soon. It's not impossible that PSG and me see each other very soon.

The potential transfer could see the Colombian pair up with Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and that is a prospect El Tigre appears to relish, saying: “I have always followed the career of Zlatan, it has been incredible. He has had success in all the leagues in which he has played. He is a fantastic player and has scored many goals.

"I like to be in a situation of competing with this kind of player. But my principle objective is to be better every day."

Falcao has scored 21 goals in 18 La Liga games this season, including netting against Real Zaragoza on Sunday and hitting five in one game as Atleti won 6-0 against Deportivo La Coruna in December.
