Mourinho eager to return to Premier League

Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho has admitted he one day wants to return to the Premier League, having in the recent past been linked with vacancies at Tottenham Hotspur and former club Chelsea, as well as potential openings at Manchester United and Manchester City, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Jose Mourinho

Mourinho was speaking in an interview to mark the 150th anniversary of the formation of the Football Association, although his tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu said to be under threat of coming to an early end. The Portuguese has fallen out with influential players such as goalkeeper Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos and found himself on the wrong side of a section of the club’s support which, combined with Madrid’s poor performance in the league, has led to speculation Mourinho could depart sooner or later.

Madrid are currently third in La Liga, 18 points adrift of leaders and eternal rivals Barcelona and seven points short of neighbours Atletico Madrid. That is despite Madrid last season beating Barca to the title to clinch their first crown in four years.

Mourinho said: “There couldn't be a better place to go. In England, you feel the real passion for the game. In England, it's not just about passion for clubs, it's mainly about passion for football - and you feel it.

If you are in England and you play in England, you feel it. You feel everything. You feel the passion. You feel that it’s clean, you feel proud to be in football - even in the worst moments.

From the bottom of my heart, if somebody who is not English is in love with the English game, I am the first to be.”
