Italians giants Milan have apparently rejected a proposal to sign David Beckham on a free transfer, the Daily Mail has reported.

David Beckham

Beckham’s contract with the LA Galaxy ended in November following the completion of the MLS's season the midfielder’s five years in Los Angeles, and the former England captain now a free agent.

A return to Europe has been on the cards for the ex-Manchester United player, with a host of clubs from Italy, France and England all keen to sign him. However, it appears Milan, with whom he spent two loans periods in 2009 and 2010, have rejected the chance to bring Beckham back to the San Siro, leaving the door open for another club to lure the midfielder.

Beckham has admitted that he wants to keep playing after winding up his contract with the Galaxy, and clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco, Queens Park Rangers and West Ham have all admitted interest in the 37-year-old.

Monaco recently suggested that signing Beckham would be unlikely as his wages are too high. PSG, with their Middle East backing, appear to be a favoured destination, as Beckham has said in the past that he wouldd not want to play for another English club aside from Manchester United.

Beckham was with United for 13 years, turning out for the Red Devils on 265 occasions. He has also earned 115 senior caps for England and played for Real Madrid for four seasons before making the move to America, where he represented the Galaxy on 98 occasions. Beckham helped the Galaxy win the MLS Cup twice, including their most recent victory in November.
