Swansea’s Belgian signing Roland Lamah has told for the first time how compatriot and Chelsea attacking midfielder Eden Hazard recommended his move to the Premier League, Sky Sports has reported.

Lamah has moved to the Liberty Stadium on an 18 month loan deal from Spanish outfit Osasuna, with a view to making the move permanent. Lamah revealed he had spoken to Hazard, who told of his confidence that the 25-year-old would enjoy life in the Premier League following the Swans’ 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Capital One Cup semi-final.

Lamah said: “I spoke to Hazard before making my decision. He said he thinks I will feel good here and I hope to play against him next week. He said Swansea is a good club to come to and it's very complicated to play against them.

These words reflect the growing reputation of Swansea, who are the first Welsh side to feature in the English Premier League. Earlier this season, Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas sent a respectful nod their way, writing on Twitter: “I love the way Swansea plays...Respect.

Lamah, who has made 45 appearances for Osasuna since joining them in 2011, continued: “The last game I watched them play was against Chelsea. A 2-0 win is very good and it convinced me to sign.

"It has always been an ambition of mine to play in the Premier League, every player wants to play here. It's a good league with good players and great fans.

Lamah also hopes that success in the Premier League will help earn him a recall to the Belgium national team, with whom he has won five caps since making his debut in 2009. He said: “Hopefully I can follow the likes of Dembele, Hazard and Kompany by doing well in England.

It's good that Belgian players are doing so well. I hope I can play very well here and get back into the national team and help Belgium to get to the World Cup. I haven't played for them for a few years so it's my objective.

The Capital One Cup return fixture with Chelsea takes place on January 23, and could indeed feature Lamah lining up against Hazard. A place in the final awaits, with Aston Villa and Bradford City contesting the other semi which sees the visiting League Two side currently leading 3-1 on aggregate. The final takes place at Wembley Stadium on February 24.
