Norwich wary of Liverpool striker Suarez, admits Hughton

Saturday 19 January 2013

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has admitted his side are wary of facing Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday as Reds striker Luis Suarez stands on the verge of a rare feat - a treble from the Uruguayan would be his third hat-trick in as many games against the Canaries, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Luis Suarez

Suarez hit three at Carrow Road earlier this season as Liverpool ran out 5-2 winners in East Anglia, while last season Suarez scored all three goals of a 3-0 win at Norwich’s ground. That means that despite drawing a blank when the sides met at Anfield in the last campaign, Suarez has six goals in two games against Hughton’s team.

The Mirror reckons no player has ever scored three hat-tricks against the same team, and certainly not in consecutive matches but Suarez has been prolific against sides other than Norwich this season, hitting goals in 29 games in all competitions.

Hughton said: “Suarez will always score goals, whatever club he is at, and he’s proved this season just how good he is. He’s tough, he’s consistent and I’ve been hugely impressed by the level of his performances this season.

His three goals in the game against us earlier this season were excellent, good enough to grace any game. So we are well aware of all his qualities, although this game isn’t all about Luis Suarez. But one thing’s for sure - we certainly don’t want him to get three hat-tricks against us!
